β VISUALS. ~5'2, slender, with naturally wavy blonde hair that's usually in a messier style. Outside of her regulation uniform, Nahla prefers wearing comfortable clothing, fitted blouses or layered, comfortable sweaters, with wide-legged trousers. When off-duty, Nahla prefers being barefoot. Otherwise, she'll be in flat shoes or boots. β VOICE. Nahla has a southern American sounding accent. She speaks with a slight lisp, and whilst not fully noticeable, can become more pronounced in certain situations. [link] β SMELL. β DEMEANOUR. Nahla carries a "flaunts the rules" attitude, openly speaking her mind and seeming to push boundaries. Truthfully, she knows which rules need to be followed and which can have more flexibility or creativity around them. She is someone very comfortable in herself, who knows her preferences and what is acceptable, and pays very little attention to what people think about her. She appreciates history and humanity, and has a huge amount of caring tucked inside her. β OTHER. As a part-Lanthanite, Nahla is extremely long-lived (over 400 years old) and will readily tell you this, as fact or teasing.

β SKILLS
β ALIEN PHYSIOLOGY. Whilst Nahla is physically indistinguishable from a human, Lanthanites are an extremely long-lived species. Although she is only part-Lanthanite, Nahla still shares her species longevity, being over 400 years old already. Lanthanites are also seemingly immune to certain drugs that would affect humans (such as the effects of LSD). Being part-Lanthanite (and assumedly half-human), the extent to which Nahla would be immune to these drugs is unknown (but for rp fun, I could play it by ear, especially if she became affected by something that she didn't think should affect her).
β LINGUIST. Nahla has a lot of time on her hands. Whilst technology in her time has developed so that alien (and human) cultures can speak in their native languages, with their speech (and text) autonomously translated, technology can fail. Nahla loves history and appreciates cultures, and would have spent time learning different languages of different species (or ancient Earth cultures). She grew up speaking both Federation Standard and Lanthanite, learned from her parents. β BOTANIST. β HISTORIAN.
β HISTORY
β born in 2770 to a human mother and lanthanite father β had a son ~3050 who joined starfleet academy β lost her son in 3070 during the burn when the ship he was on was destroyed. nahla's ship picked up his distress call but she was unable to do anything to save him β is haunted by her grief for her son β resigned from starfleet in 3177 after separating a mother from her son (and losing track of the son) β began teaching on bajor for the next fifteen years β in 3192 accepted (with coercion and a play on her guilt) a position as chancellor of starfleet academy
β physically indistinguishable from humans β certain drugs don't work on them ( e.g. effects of lsd, drugs to alter biology ) β extended lifespan ( sometimes said to be eternal ) β no words for loss or endings in their language
β lanthanites process loss and death very differently to humans. because of their extended lifespan, death via old age isn't a thing, and it's an ending they learned of through living with humans and other shorter-lived species. lanthanites have a fantastic memory, carrying the people they knew in memories with them, remembering them for countless generations. because of how they still remember people, it becomes harder to process death when you are unending -- you look to still talk to them, or think of them, even centuries later. trauma from death ends up carried, having to be reminded continuously that the person you knew or loved is no longer with you. grief holds, trauma holds, felt even centuries later.
